Dear Dehaiers:

When I was browsing the net I came across our Ethiopian friends home page.
Although I was impressed to see the efforts they made to use the Amharic
language to browse the Internet, I also came to awareness that they could
still be a danger to Eritrea and the region as the hole by advocating for a
war against Eritrea. As you may know the interview made with Professor Tilahun
Yilma in Nov 1996 is published in their home page. After reading the
interview, I asked my self how safe we are and how distant the possibility is
that they could be a threat to the stability we are enjoying currently? But
most importantly, what can we do to stop it?

IN the interview, Tilahun said clearly that they are working hard to
contribute money to support the AFAR movement that would fight in Eritrea.
Regardless how threatening it may be at this moment, it is something to
seriously think about and get ready for it. Their action is, in my opinion,
in complete comparison to the Sudanese governments action namely sponsoring
terrorist activities against Eritrea. I am sure that our government is capable
of dealing with the groups committed to wage war in Eritrea. But, what about
these people like Tilahun who live in the west and openly admit they are
fighting to destabilize our country? Should we allow them to openly rase money
to buy weapons that would kill our brothers and sisters? Shouldn’t we
(Eritreans living in the west) be organized to once more fight these people
again before it is too late?

I personally think, we should somehow find a way to deal with these terrorists
in the west. It is easier to fight them now, before they grow and poss threat
to us, than fight them at the field. And the first thing to do is get
organized as we were before independence. We still have a common enemy that we
together have to deal with. I fully understand that we can say little in this
forum about what should be done to deter this guys. But I feel that we
seriously have to think about it and at least discuss it within our community.

They are moving slowly while we are sleeping deeply, I am afraid.
