Biniam,

I, of course, enjoy the jokes you post immensely. In fact, I go so far as
saying that they are necessary because as periodic injections of
lightness in the form of humor they counterbalance the extremely high
level of seriousness that is rampant in dehai.

I do not take dehai per se very seriously. More specifically, I do not
take it more seriously than, say, attending Eritrean seminars, Eritrean
Embassy sponsored events, and Eritrean parties. All these places,
including electronic community dehai, in essence provide us opportunities
to learn about Eritrea/Eritreans, determine how we can help and obtain
help, make new friends/contacts, and have fun in the process.

We have seen dehaiers exchange vituperative emails just as Eritreans in
Eritrean events do harmful punches. Both are a result of an overdose of
seriousness which can be reduced by humor.

The jokes you post, then, are great and I urge you to keep them coming,
but what I would like to see more of is Eritrean humor not just from the
present, for e.g. my favorite: dehai sabbatical, but also from the past
that reflects Eritrean culture and history.

Aradom
