Hi Ermias, first of all I would like you to know that I am not writing this
brotherly criticism regarding your joke because I feel morally cultivated or
sensitive than you; surely I do not feel that way. Most of us including
myself and those Dehaiers who were offended by your joke may have said things
that were tasteless and abusive about any person in a group regardless of the
actual variation among the people of that group. I think, correct me if I am
wrong, it is natural to have a hostile or negative attitude toward certain
groups of people when that feeling of negativity is the result of momentary
frustration. For example, you may understandably develop a feeling of enmity
toward Eritrean women in general right after you broke up with your Eritrean
girlfriend or wife. However, this way of thinking becomes a problem when it
ceases to be momentary and evolves into a fixed belief you live by. Ermias,
the more you dwell on this discussion, mainly due to your stubbornness,
concerning the joke you wrote about Eritrean women the deeper you get
yourself in problems. Especially the response you posted to one member, I
think it was directed toward Salome, was improper. As members of this forum,
it is a requirement to give respect as well as to receive it. Ermias, I do
understand, it is a little irritating when many of the members reprimanded
you like that for a joke that you thought was harmless. But whatever happen
to good Eritrean manner. There is a saying that the best way to handle a
problem is to go through it, thus the best way to end this discussion about
your off-color joke is with a sincere apology. Remember my brother, we are
here to learn from each other so we can get along better.
