Hi Kibra,
I do not know if verbosity sucks, but when it is too redundant and becomes
egregious, tasteless, and belligerent, I agree with you not only it sucks, it
stinks. One of the things that I love in Dehai is, the incredible talent of
some of our members in commanding the written word. I gotta tell you they
blow me away every time they drop a line, I am not going to name names but
since some of them decided to be sideline spectators J at the present, I think
it is high time that others come out of the closet and share some of their
wisdom, especially ladies. The participation of women in Dehai has been far
and in between, by far they're all outstanding, but we need more of them. May
be they could come up with subject matters that could be refreshing,
informative, and rewarding for all of us. Actually, why do we have to talk
about persistently about politics and religion, can't we talk about romantic
relationships, family relationships, self improvement, community advancement,
and many others. I think we can talk about these things with equal fervor and
feel we learned something at the end of the day.
Kibra, you asked < What do you do when you see that your wives, daughters,
sisters, and nieces have been shut out of your own personal conversations?
How do you include
them, or are you even aware?> I know women have to go a long way in a society
like ours in order to be recognized, I mean really acknowledged. But as is my
experience in this country if I had to put down my own sisters in any way,
believe me they would let me hear it, oh yes they would.
I think, men, no matter how progressive we might appear to be ( I am
generalizing here) we are inversely programmed, if you will, as to think a
woman's place is in the home. This is why I believe Dehaie's women should come
to the forefront and stand shoulder to shoulder with the men as frequently as
possible and let us hear it.
Blessings to all.

Selam Dehai,
I firmly believe "Verbosity sucks." With that said I briefly
want to mention something. Yohannes Habtezion and Ammanuel
discussed "recycling ideas," but I believe it was Yohannes who
brought up women's lack of participation. I have been thinking
of this for a few weeks now, amidst the recent deterioration of
conversation.
Has anybody noticed that Dehai political, historical et al
conversations reflect every other forum for discussion among
Habesha: men in the forefront? this time in a political orgie.
Ya'll, to be honest, Dehai has become hostile; so hostile that
anyone with a career or some instinct will stay out this mess,
female or not!
My question to all of you is what do you so when this happens in
your own homes, or your own cities?
Kibra
